Parks & Trails
Ice Age TrailÂ

The 1,200 footpath spans across the state of Wisconsin. The local section of the trail offers about 25 miles of hiking on the Clover Valley Segment (1.6 miles), Whitewater Lake Segment (4.6 miles), Blackhawk Segment (7 miles), and the Blue Spring Lake Segment (7.1 miles). Â
Located closest to the lake, the Whitewater Lake Segment travels hilly terrain featuring wooded moraines, kettles, and beautiful views of Rice and Whitewater Lakes.
Dogs are generally allowed on the Ice Age Trail. All dogs must be leashed (with a maximum length of 8 feet) and must be under control at all times.
Natureland County Park

Located along the south end of Whitewater Lake, Natureland County Park features 1222 acres, Â 4 hiking trails, port-a-potties, picnic tables, charcoal grills, and a pavilion. Â The park is dog-friendly. County parks are free to the public. Located near the parking lot, you can see one of the headwaters of the lake where water is bubbling up from the ground. It quickly forms a small stream and then goes off to be part of the lake.
Dr. O.R. Rice Picnic Area

Located on Rice Lake, the Dr. O.R. Rice Picnic Area is located on an oak-filled peninsula that offers a picnic area and is also a popular fishing location & kayak launch. Dogs must be on a leash (with a maximum length of 8 ft) unless they are swimming. A Wisconsin State Park Pass is required for parking.
Rice Lake Recreation Area

The Rice Lake Recreation Area includes a nature trail, boat launch, playground, and picnic area. The pet area is located to the right of the boat launch. Dogs can swim to the right of the pier. A Wisconsin State Park Pass is required for parking.
Oak Hollow Pet Area

The Oak Hollow Pet Area has port-a-potties and a trail on where you can take your pets down to the water. Be aware it is not a fenced-in pet area. A Wisconsin State Park Pass is required for parking.
Whitewater Bark Park

Located in the City of Whitewater, the Whitewater Bark Park provides an enclosed open area where dogs can play. The park is divided into two areas - one for small dogs and one for large dogs.

Located just off of Whitewater Lake, Albert's Dog Lounge is a foster-based rescue focused on providing loving homes to seniors, special needs, and hospice dogs. They help dogs in need from overcrowded shelters and local families who can no longer care for their pets.
Clyde's Closet is located at N7285 Woodfield Lane, Whitewater Wisconsin at the headquarters of Albert's Dog Lounge Rescue. Clyde's Closet is a unique little free pet pantry dedicated to supporting pets and their devoted owners in our community. It officially opened in May of 2024, providing a wide range of essential pet supplies to those in need. Donations are welcome and appreciated!
